He's Going To Penang

Because bro's going to Penang tomorrow(or was it the day after tomorrow? Whatever) for a week because of the chinese orchestra, our house seems to be getting a bit messier than usual as he searches for stuff. It's almost like he's going camping, in a way, though he's probably not going to sleep in the middle of a forest or something. He's just gonna sleep on the "nice" cold hard floor of an old classroom for a couple of days while he visits schools.

Cos mum's worried about the cold hard floor of the classroom, she's bought bro a spanking brand new sleeping bag. Bro being the miser he is, originally planned to sleep on the floor with old newspapers and used all his means possible to stop mum from buying a sleeping bag. Mum still bought it anyway. I tried it. It doesn't seem to have much difference from sleeping on newspapers except that you'd feel warmer and you won't have to hear rustling sounds from the newspapers.

Just like mum...

Holidays And Teachers Day

It's the holidays! Weets! I'm feeling oddly cheery now.

So we celebrated Teachers Day yesterday, it's also supposedly the first time the school allowed students to throw a party. And legally bring cake to school.

So we first listened to an epic speech by the headmaster, then teo more epic speeches by to Form 6 students. Then each Form 6 student have to escort a teacher to the hall to watch their special performance.

Wan Zi went mad with the boys: they've been guzzling down all the Belgian sparkling juice like they were dying from thirst, all the bottles including those for the teachers. There wasn't much of a spread and the best stuff at the party was easily the pizza and black forest cake that Feijin and Wan Zi ordered.

We had another case of randomness by Wan Ying, the prefect who "looked after" us during the orientation camp and Hsee, a baby-faced little guy.

Wan Ying: 希祥! 我亲爱的希祥!
Hsee: Oh oh...*scuttles away*
Wan Ying: *Runs up to Hsee, hugs him then picked him up the way a groom will carry his bride*
Boys: OOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Girls: SQUEAL! CUTE!

We ended up having to "kidnap" some of the teachers because other classes were "hogging" them all to themselves. And somebody came in wearing a Grim Reaper mask. We've got the teachers yanking at the tuff of hair on the mask.

With the class in utter chaos (but then again, we nearly are always in "utter chaos" mode) and being rather noisy with Jay Chow's songs blaring from the speakers at what seemed max volume, I wonder how did Brandon and Chee hang sleep through all this for hours...

Singing And Randomness

Ok, speaking of randomness, we've got the guys from the drama club pulling all stops to get people to join their competition. This includes playing "statues" in rather uncomfortable positions, namely standing on one leg while holding a big sign or in more weirder poses. Some of the "statues" wobbled (who could blame them) and whispered " How long more?" and " I can't take it anymore" to each other.

They also celebrated some member's b'day in the canteen. After singin happy b'day, the b'day guy yelled ou if anyone cared to join the drama competition. He got boos from nearly everyone in the canteen.

Today we also had the "grand finals" for the singin competition. Some of them were good, though in some groups the girls outnumber the guys like 3:1 or 4:1, so you can barely tell if the guys are singing cos the girls drown out the guys. I nearly fell asleep at the end while waiting for the judges to make their decisions.

On the plus side, we got to wriggle out of 3 periods...

"Adopt A Toilet" Program And Painting Our Class

Today everyone in school painted their classrooms. We were all unable to access the toilets because of the "Adopt A Toilet" program: classes can "adopt" a toilet and they have to paint and clean out the toilet they adopted. Don't ask me why the school initiated this program: I'm pretty much in the dark.

So, back to painting the classroom. We're to paint the doors, door frames, window frames, walls and er, ceiling. The walls were supposed to be cream, ceiling white, doors and window frames green and door frames red.

When it comes to painting, it doesn't help that the boys all wore white PE shirts: they all looked "bloody" or like clowns or Red Indians. Some of us had paper hats of different designs: boat hat, box hat, hat with two points etc. Half of us got paint all over our clothes. And hair. And skin. This guy's "awesome": green "eyeshadow" and "face paint", shirt with colourful handprints, white hair and skin that looks like there're wounds and white spots.

Before we started, we covered the tables and floor with newspapers. Even though there're newspapers everywhere, somehow the floor and tables got splattered by white and cream paint, so we had to use water and thinner to get the paint off and even then, we haven't got the classroom floor and tables paint-free.

Gyaha...

Torture's Over...For Now

Yay... Exams are over... Now to wait for my "doom": I'm sure I botched my Chinese, Maths and Malay.

Seems like the school has a weird thing mid-year and year-end exam sittings: those who hit an even roll number have to take their exams in another class with older(or younger)students. My class got "invaded" by 28 students from 4A Ren. The good thing about having an even number or having a number above 25 : you don't need to clean the classroom. As for cleaning the classroom, the discipline department arranges which people with certain roll numbers clean the classroom, and I got the "happiest little job" for my height: cleaning the whiteboard.I hate being short. I look stupid having to stand on the toes of my shoes just to clean the top of the board.Kinda like a clumsy ballerina.

Well, guess that's it...

Wesak Day...

Yesterday was Wesak Day(well, you know: you've got to be living at the bottom of the ocean if you didn't know).

Ended up going to TWO temples. 天后殿 and another one which I forgot. I generally dislike going to temples: the incense smell makes me have this constant feeling of wanting to sneeze and the smoke stings my eyes. eyes. Both bro and I whined to go to Mid Valley or not go to 天后殿 or just go back home immediately after the first temple but that didn't happen.

Oh well. Had a bit of fun with the stone zodiac animals at 天后殿.
I'm too slow with my phone. Bro looks more "awesome" with his dumb looking war pose.

The first pic on this boring blog.

I had to wear this T-shirt ( worn bt those who took part in the marathon in March) for assembly last Wednesday with my blue pinafore. Why? Cos My class raised an average of RM300 (or over) per person. Does the headmaster have any sense of fashion at all?

Get what I mean? NICE deep red coupled with NICE blue pinafore. Whaddya get? A couple hundred clowns walking round the school.

The first, second and third pic on this boring blog, all in one post.

Teacher's Day Preparations! And SMILE!

My school, apart from preparing for the mid-year exams( which are probably designed to drive both teachers and students crazy) and the 学艺展(to impress those Year 6 students and whoever decided to drop in), is also starting to prepare for Teacher's Day. That's putting a bit of strain for Feijin and Wan Zi, as they're in charge of the preparations for our class: food and drink, entertainment( for teachers), decorations, hygiene after "partying" around...

I think the point of Teacher's Day here is that teachers play while the students plan and do all the hard work. I haven't decided what to bring for Teacher's Day yet( everyone has to bring something, even if they are staying in the hostel), and I have to confirm by Saturday. Watermelon? Jelly? Or Mum's famous chicken curry?(I can't bring junk food cos I don't stay in the hostel)

The 学艺展 is supposed to impress those Year 6 students so that they pick to go to Chong Hwa, take the entrance exam, and then cry or fly, and to get people to come to the school for stuff such as this Folk Song Cafe and to look at the Inventing Club's Rube Goldberg or to gawp at the students' pets(I think it's the Biology Club's idea).

The mid-year exam is coming, and my class has quietened down to listen to whatever the teacher's saying( except fo madam Shanta's class). We're quite behind in some subjects, especially geography: we're only at chapter 9(or was it 10?) and the exam's gonna test us until chapter 11!And there's only 1 or 2 weeks left! Though we're considered "fast" cos all the other classes are still on chapter 7.(told you it's designed to drive everyone crazy)

In conjunction to this "limau"运动,sorry, I mean "礼貌运动", the school's launchedthis smiling competition: snap a pic of yourself in school uniform smiling and stand a chance to win great prizes. My class teacher's ordered everyone to snap a pic, but I really hate to snap pics of myself! Oh well...
